Throughout his life and career Tom Basile has committed himself to public service.  Tom grew up in Rockland and is raising his family in historic Stony Point.  He believes that government has a responsibility to work tirelessly to keep our communities affordable for everyone.  In 2013 he was elected Councilman of Stony Point with the backing of the Republican, Independence, Conservative and Working Families parties. Today, he also serves as Deputy Town Supervisor.

As a firm believer in fiscal discipline, common sense government, and more constructive politics, Tom leverages his experience in business, government, and the media to ensure our government creates an environment where we can lower taxes, increase home values and put people back to work while protecting our freedom. 

A lawyer and small business owner, Tom has run his own strategic communications firm for more than a decade.  He is an Opinion Contributor to Forbes, and author.  He frequently writes for or appears on both local and national media outlets discussing public policy issues.  Tom is also a professor at Fordham University where he teaches at the graduate level.

His experience in government includes service at the local, state and federal levels.  He began his career with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation during the Pataki Administration and went on to serve in the administration of President George W. Bush in Washington.  While in Washington, he was named Director of Communications for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In 2003, at the request of the White House, Tom deployed to Iraq where he served as an advisor to the Coalition government in Baghdad.  He was awarded the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Medal for his work. 

Upon his return, he served at the Pentagon, helped organize the visit of Former Presidents Bush and Clinton to South East Asia following the 2005 tsunami and as a press secretary on Capitol Hill.  Tom had roles on both the 2000 and 2004 Presidential campaigns and from 2009-2011 served as Executive Director of the New York State Republican Party.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University, where he now is a member of the Board of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  He was recently named to the Board of Advisors of the new Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs.  He received his Juris Doctor attending Fordham and Georgetown Law Schools and is admitted to the New York Bar.

Tom and his wife Carrie, an OB/GYN, are parishioners of St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville.  They have three young children, and a Golden Retriever named Brooke.
